Sharing is caring for people and planet
Moray CAN operates knowing that there is no one solution to the climate crisis, just as there is not one action that needs to be taken.
Tackling climate change means understanding it is deeply linked to other challenges such as poverty, food security, transportation and housing.
Understanding the link between challenges is key if solutions are to work at local levels.
Projects such as Cullen Share - a clothing recycling initiative that received a small grant by Moray CAN - takes the community a step closer to better recycling, options away from fast fashion, and importantly an option for people struggling in a cost of living crisis – especially for one family, who told the project they can no longer afford to shop in a charity shop.
This is heartbreaking yet important feedback that shows the need for systems change - a redesign of our economic system - so that it truly prioritises people and planet.
Cullen Share is the kind of vibrant community led climate action that is possible, positive and practical - addressing both climate change and relieving poverty in a cost of living crisis.
