Scotland led the world in becoming one of the first nations to declare a global climate emergency in April 2019. The need to take action to tackle climate change is more urgent than ever. So, as part of the global effort to fight the climate emergency Scotland has set an ambitious target to become 'Net Zero' by 2045, five years ahead of the rest of the UK.
Climate Action Network (CAN) is the world’s largest climate network made up of more than 1,900 civil society organisations in over 130 countries, together fighting the climate crisis. Since its inception in the 1980s, CAN has grown into a strong, member-driven network with a membership spanning all six continents in over 130 countries.
Scottish Communities Climate Action Network (SCCAN) is a volunteer-led network with membership open to any community group across Scotland that is taking action on the climate crisis and to any organisation that is involved with or supports such community-led action.
Cairngorms 2030 is empowering those who live, visit, and work in the UK’s largest national park to tackle climate and nature crises.
Inspired by “Dùthchas,” the deep connection between people and nature, Cairngorms 2030 will initiate 20 long-term projects to drive transformational change, benefiting health, wellbeing, climate action, and nature. This ambitious programme aims to inspire communities across Scotland and beyond to take meaningful action.
Cairngorms 2030 is an unprecedented partnership of over 70 organisations and is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
